One thing I notice when I read Ryan's books is that I never doubt the fact that his characters are gay men. This one had some laugh aloud moments and some pithy insights. Like his character's comment about single gay men travelling in groups. The depictions certainly bear little resemblance to the gay heroes of m/m fiction, but somehow with the heroes and the side characters, I get the feeling they are a lot more "real" even if the situations they are in aren't. Even down to the poor shy Lev Godwins of the world who "put on a good passive agressive act to get what they want". Ryan must really have it in for those ones as he killed him off. Lol.Let's face it, I'm sure that in private, gay guys get up to a lot naughtier things than most m/m romance writers would imagine or dare to include in their books, so I like reading Ryan's books to be reminded of that fact.
